When the Body Says No: Why "Who Won't Listen Must Feel" is Actually a Gift

By Rachelle & Saskia (Not Your Average Psychic)

There is an old Dutch saying: "Wie niet luisteren wil, moet voelen." (Who won't listen, must feel).

Usually, this is said as a punishment—a warning to children that if they don't follow the rules, they will face the consequences. But in the world of energy and spirituality, this saying takes on a completely different, and surprisingly loving, meaning.

We are currently living in a time of high pressure. We push, we hustle, we try to force outcomes. And then, inevitably, we crash. We get sick. We get tired. We lose our voice (or find ourselves sounding like Toni Braxton in the lower registers).

If you are currently feeling physically drained, sick, or blocked, it is easy to feel like you are failing. But looking through the lens of the soul, you are not failing. You are being re-routed.

Here is why your physical "stop sign" might be the most important spiritual intervention of your life.

The "Bulldozer" vs. The Soul

Many of us operate like bulldozers. We have a goal, and we will crush any obstacle (including our own well-being) to get there. We operate from a place of panic-manifesting: "If I don't do this NOW, it won't happen."

But the Soul operates on a different frequency. The Soul knows that true creation comes from softness and magic, not force and exhaustion.

When there is a mismatch between your "Bulldozer Mind" (which wants to push) and your Soul (which wants to flow), the Universe steps in. And since we are stubborn humans who often ignore the subtle whispers of intuition, the Universe has to use the one language we cannot ignore: Physical Sensation.

Pain, illness, and exhaustion are the brakes. They are the "Cosmic Timeout" forcing you to stop running a race you were never meant to win, so you can start walking the path you were actually born for.

The Tennis Umpire Chair

Imagine a tennis match. The players are running around, sweating, stressed about every point. Now imagine the umpire sitting in the high chair above the court.

When the Universe slows you down (through sickness or blocks), it is lifting you out of the game and placing you in that high chair.

  • You are no longer in the frantic back-and-forth.

  • You are forced to observe.

  • You are forced to trust that the game can proceed without your constant interference.

This "forced inaction" is terrifying for the ego. We think, "If I stop, everything falls apart." But the spiritual truth is: If you stop, the unnecessary falls away, and the essential remains.

The "3-Count" Rule of Manifestation

We are addicted to instant gratification. We plant a seed, stare at the dirt for 0.2 seconds, and scream, "IT'S NOT WORKING!"

But high-level creation requires what we call the 3-Count Rule. You must give your intentions space to breathe. You must trust the "gestation period" of your dreams.

Just because you cannot see the result immediately doesn't mean it isn't happening. In fact, when things seem "quiet" or "blocked" externally, it often means your spiritual team (your guides, ancestors, and higher self) is working overtime behind the scenes. They are rearranging the furniture of your life so that when the door finally opens, you are ready to walk through it.

The Most Important Question You Can Ask

If you are feeling frustrated by a lack of progress or physical health right now, there is one question you owe it to yourself to ask:

"What do I owe to myself?" (I owe it to myself...)

Do you owe yourself rest? Do you owe yourself a walk in nature? Do you owe yourself the permission to create something just for the joy of it, without needing to sell it or post it?

We often ask, "What do I owe the world?" or "What do I owe my boss?" But the Universe can only give you what you are willing to give yourself. If you treat yourself like a machine, the Universe will reflect that mechanical, grinding energy back to you. If you treat yourself with reverence, rest, and magic, the Universe will mirror that with miraculous flow.

Conclusion: Trust the "No"

If your body is saying "No" right now, trust it. It is not a punishment. It is a protection. It is your ancestors whispering, "You don't have to run anymore." It is your Soul saying, "We have a better way, but you need to be still enough to see it."

So, embrace the slowdown. Listen to the silence. And know that in this pause, you are not losing time—you are gaining alignment. And alignment is the only shortcut that actually works.
